Small Groups

Small Groups - a place to …….. be known, become, belong.

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up only one body. So it is with the body of Christ… . . but we have all been baptized into Christ’s body by one Spirit, and we have all received the same Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12,13b

The development of meaningful relationships, where every member carries a significant sense of belonging, is central to what it means to be the church. A central component of life in the early church was believers living in vital community with one another.

Within these groups Jesus was the common bond that held them together. He was the main focus. Their relationship with Jesus allowed them to relate to each other with a depth and commitment that made the “body of Christ” a perfect metaphor for the church.

It enabled them to come together to minister to one another as each member utilized the spiritual gifts God has given to them. In the process of caring for each other through the power of God, they would build one another up in their relationship with God. The nurture and care they received and gave was an important element for their growth in becoming more mature followers of Jesus.

The blessings and benefits to the individual believeer from this kind of community are obvious. However, the end result was not self-focused. It equipped believers to take the presence of God and what He was doing among them out into their daily lives. The supernatural power of God transformed the lives of those they came into contact with and literally changed the world.
