Judy and her Granddaughters Amabella and Adeliza at Christmas (2009)

Merry Christmas! Our first and best event of the year was the birth of Trevor and Tawnya’s second daughter, Adeliza Emeline Smith, (we call her “Ade”), on February 5th. The second exciting thing is that Sarah and Jon came down for Lindsay’s wedding (Darryl’s brother Don’s daughter) and had good news for us.  Sarah and Jon are having a daughter in April.  That keeps the granddaughter streak going.  One a year (2008, 2009, 2010). The third exciting thing is that both our children have bought houses this year, (yeah for the “Stimulus Package”).  The TnT house is in Santa Rosa, 20 minutes away.  Sarah and Jon’s house is in Salem, Oregon. In May, we hosted Judy’s Dad’s 80th Birthday and her Grandma’s 102nd Birthday.  All of Grandma’s children were here and some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  One of my favorite memories was that everyone wore a T-shirt or sign saying “My ________ (dad, brother, papa, husband, son, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, nephew, cousin) is a Marine” and on the back, “he’s 80 years old today!” This summer we had a wonderful time visiting with Darryl’s cousin Jan and her family from England, along with Darryl’s brothers and sister. Judy’s cousin Anne moved to Tiburon, CA, so that’s one of our favorite destinations.  She hosted Judy’s Mom and Dad’s 60th Wedding Anniversary.  Our family and Judy’s Aunt Doris attended a dinner at Spinaker’s in Sausilito, CA., and a wonderful chocolate cake at Anne’s. Darryl made his annual trip to Mexico to build houses for the poor, the end of September.  He enjoyed this trip very much because they had the opportunity to work directly with the Mexican churches. In October, we made our annual trip to Modesto, to visit the Smith Family. We have slowed down on extra activities.  Seeing Grandma three times a week, organizing of our church small group on Sundays, and babysitting the Girls on Thursdays, is enough. We are currently busy getting ready for the Christmas Holiday and looking forward to visiting with our children and grandchildren.   Love, Darryl & Judy
